Tolerance in the Middle Ages :: essays research papers

The issue of lenience has and consistently will be a solid and powerful point among people groups of all ethnic and culture foundations. The equivalent is valid for the issue of strict lenience, for the situation being between the Jews and the Christians in Medieval Europe. It is contended between R. Menahem ha-meir and Katz that the word lenience isn't just a clarification of the occasions, yet rather a bogus impression of reality. Reality for this situation being, that the Jews and Christians needed seclusion and rebellion from one another while simultaneously having the option to coincide together in their separate social orders. Â Â Â Â Â By taking a gander at the Katz text, it is plain to see that his fundamental contention on the subject of strict lenience is that these two gatherings of individuals in this timespan did without a doubt want partition and eliteness from one another. The difficult that originated from this separation was the trouble in making regular day to day existence work for both strict gatherings while simultaneously keeping them separated from each other however much as could be expected. Moreover, we see the battle characterized by Katz which depicts the Jews and the trouble they looked in making an interpretation of their old writings to consistently life situations. Quite a bit of what was written in the Aggadah and the Halakha was not generally pertinent to these past consistently circumstances, so we start to see a reclassifying and extending of the idioms in the old content and the legislative issues of the time so as to more readily suit the individuals and not disturb the economy, society, and so forth. For instance, we see the Jews presently having the option to speak to themselves in court on account of the new detail which permits the vow to be taken. It is presently permitted in light of the fact that the Christian making the vow is swearing on a ?composite? God and all the more actually, a bit of paper which the Jews don't perceive as obvious power (The Gospels). This shows how the social real factors had changed and how the Jews had adjusted to the circumstances by not disposing of the content, however by rather articulating the content while looking after eliteness. Â Â Â Â Â On the other hand, R. Menahem ha-meir says in his article that lenience should be seen logically, as in Katz?s work, anyway he additionally focuses on that the requirement for the seclusion and partition ought to be taken a gander at carefully in its chronicled condition alongside the effectively explicit strict presumptions that the Christians and Jews have towards each other.

Best Retirement Plans For Entrepreneurs

Best Retirement Plans For Entrepreneurs © Shutterstock.com | pathdocIn this article, we discover 1) an introduction to preparing for retirement for entrepreneurs, 2) the importance of retirement planning for entrepreneurs, 3) most popular retirement plans for entrepreneurs, and 4) how entrepreneurs can plan for retirement.INTRODUCTIONA retirement plan is an investment and savings plan that would provide you with enough income to live independently after retirement. Against common perception, even entrepreneurs can have retirement plans and make their life as easy as possible after retirement. You, as an entrepreneur, might provide retirement plans for your employees, but you must consider choosing a good retirement plan for yourself as well.A retirement plan often includes identifying income goals after retirement as well as decisions and actions to attain those goals. The plan further includes managing assets, implementing a savings program, estimating expenses and determining the source of income necessary for you to li ve without any financial woes after you have retired. Similarly, you also need to estimate future cash flows in order to ensure that you do achieve your retirement income goals. As mentioned above, it is totally false on your part to think that retirement plans are only for government workers, police officers or teachers, etc. You need to think again. These are definitely the most common types of retirement plans, but there are many other types of plans that have been devised especially for entrepreneurs like you.For example, I always recommend a Simplified Employee Pension Individual Retirement Arrangement (SEP-IRA), one of the most common types of IRAs available to entrepreneurs in the United States. There are negligible administration costs if you happen to be a solo entrepreneur. If you have people working for you, all of you will receive the same SEP benefit.Today, most entrepreneurs like to work beyond the typical retirement age. However, adequate financial planning for the lon g run can provide you with enough flexibility and control when you do decide to hang up your boots.IMPORTANCE OF RETIREMENT PLANNING FOR ENTREPRENEURSIt is absolutely essential for you to take your retirement in your own hands and plan well in advance to enjoy a financially secure retirement. Here are some reasons why you need to plan for retirement:You Can’t Rely on the Government Welfare System: Although the government sponsors your retirement, it is not enough to meet your financial requirements once you retire. You need to remember that the ratio of covered workers to the number of beneficiaries has decreased significantly over the last few years. Similarly, people are living longer than ever before due to advances in healthcare. As a result, there is a greater strain on resources and governments nowadays have no other option but to reduce social security benefits.Find Possible Sources of Income Now: It is necessary for you to find all possible sources of income when you are s till in control, to financially secure your post-retirement life. Once you retire, it will be difficult to maintain your current lifestyle as social security will replace only a fraction of the money you are earning while working. You have to supplement social security benefits by investing in retirement plans such as a 401(k), Individual Retirement Agreement Accounts, and other securities.Increasing Life Expectancy: Due to tremendous advancements in healthcare, people are living longer these days. Therefore, it is even more important for you to arrange enough financial resources to support yourself. It is also a bad idea to save only enough to last to a certain age. What if you live beyond that age? In this case, you might struggle to fund the “extra years” of your life. Therefore it is imperative for you to plan to live beyond the average life expectancy.Unexpected Medical Expenses: It is never the best option to rely on funds that you cannot control. Frequent health problems and increased medical expenses are an integral part of old age. If you don’t have adequate funds to cover these expenses, the golden years of your life may also become a nightmare because social security will only cover the bare minimum of your expenses. In this case, investing in long-term healthcare medical insurance can help you to prevent a lot of problems in the long run.Flexibility to Take Future Challenges: Life is full of surprises and unforeseen difficulties such as the deteriorating health of your loved one, a crumbling social security system and growing financial needs of your dependents. However, you will do yourself a big favor if you have secured enough to meet all of your future requirements without any hassle. This will provide you with peace of mind when you need it the most.Money Depreciates in Value: Considering the current inflation rate, the value of money is going to decrease considerably, say in next 30 years. Unless you plan properly, your buying and sellin g power will not be the same as it is today. It is important for you to recognize the true potential of saving in future terms if you don’t want to ruin your last years of your life struggling with financial problems.MOST POPULAR RETIREMENT PLANS FOR ENTREPRENEURSAs an entrepreneur, it is your own responsibility to determine what type of retirement plan suits your particular requirements. It can be a bit confusing because there are plenty of options to choose from. In this regard, following are some of the most comment retirement plans you might consider. The Small Business or Self-Employed 401(k)A 401(k) is perhaps the most popular retirement plan not only among employees, but entrepreneurs as well. All the big banks in the United States offer different variations of this very plan such as the self-employed 401(k) or small business 401(k). In simple words, a 401(k) is all about investing a portion of your income in a mutual fund. There is a pool of management investments or contri bution that helps your investment grow over time. You can slightly reduce your tax burden as all the contributions are pre-taxed based. The major difference between self-employed and small business plans is that the former does not have any set up fee. For small business plans, set up fees are scaled to the size of your business and they cover multiple employees. Similarly, your selected institution will handle distribution of the profits and tax advisory services.Simple IRA PlanIf your company has less than 100 employees, you might consider a Simple Individual Retirement Account (IRA) plan. Contributions are mostly done in the form of payroll deductions before the tax is paid. This plan requires both the employer and the employees to contribute some portion of their salary from each paycheck. You, as an employee, must make a matching contribution dollar for dollar, and it can be up to 3% of the compensation you pay to an employee. On the other hand, you can make a fixed contribution for all eligible employees even if they don’t contribute to the plan. This contribution can be up to 2% of their respective compensations. You can include all new employees in this plan without their consent but must also give them the option to opt out. There are many institutions across the country which can help you to establish a simple IRA for your business. Similarly, if you are already dealing with a certain bank, they might also have provisions to set up a simple IRA for you.Retirement-Oriented Profit SharingRetirement-oriented profit sharing is an option for you if you cannot afford the fees of the 401(k) or you are not sure whether your business requires a simple IRA or not. The discretionary nature of the profit sharing plan also gives you the liberty to set any threshold level in terms of how the plan will be kicked in and how the profits will be distributed. Most profit sharing plans are launched at the end of the fiscal year when all the expenses have been calculated. This simply means that you will not be working with pre-tax gross but have to deal with post-tax net profit. Profit sharing plans can reduce your saving efficiencies and increase tax expenses, but it will make employees feel more empowered to achieve the organizational goals as well.Simplified Employee Pension (SEP) PlanYou can set up SEP-IRAs for all of your employees and yourself through a Simplified Employee Pension (SEP) plan. You have to make a uniform contribution for each of the employees, but it is not compulsory to make a contribution every year. If you automate the contributions and define them well, the pension plan can work perfectly both for you and your employees. In fact, missing a contribution to the SEP can also be an advantage for you, especially if your company is having a really bad year.Again, almost all large financial institutions provide the facility of SEPs but its forms are a bit more complex as compared to IRA plans. Advisory services and fees vary from in stitution to institution. It is also pertinent to note that you are not bound to make any contribution as a package deal because this is essentially a pension plan. You must take a good look at the plans and make a decision accordingly. However, you have to maintain transparency so everyone knows what the scope of the pension plan is and how it is going to help them.Individual Pension Plan (IPP)More and more entrepreneurs are investing in Individual Pension Plans nowadays. Essentially a type of Defined Benefit Pension Plan, IPP helps you to secure your retirement in addition to increasing your tax-deferred retirement plan contributions. You make contributions according to a set formula based on the total years of your services and your age.The first year contribution can be as big as $40,000 where your company has to contribute most of the money. However, this type of plan is well-suited to rich businessmen only because the annual contributions are $100,000 or more. The good thing i s that the amount paid by the company will decrease as the contribution is a tax-deductible expense.Insured Retirement Plan (IRP)I would also suggest you try an Insured Retirement Plan, especially if you are still 10-15 years away from retirement. Similarly, if you are looking to acquire life insurance, it is better to invest in an insured retirement plan rather than choosing traditional insurance. As a matter of fact, insured retirement plans offer additional income through a life insurance that is, of course, exempted from all kinds of taxes. This type of retirement plan can also be a great option for you if you are already maximizing your contributions to Registered Retirement Saving Plans (RRSP).Retirement Compensation Agreement (RCA)You can also invest in the Retirement Compensation Agreement for the welfare of key employees of your company, including yourself. As the name suggests, RCA is a sort of agreement in which an organization makes a contribution to a third party that i s commonly known as a custodian. These contributions are later delivered to the employee at the time of his retirement or termination. As compared to other retirement plans discussed above, RCA is rather complex and unsuitable for every entrepreneur. However, it has certain benefits such as it helps you to avoid valuation requirements as in the case of IPP. Similarly, the tax will not be deducted from the contribution until the employee receives the benefits.Money-Purchase Pension Plan (MPPP)Both you and your employees make contributions to a Money-Purchase Pension Plan according to the terms of the agreement where the contributions are based on annual salaries. You can purchase a sort of allowance for your lifetime at the time of your retirement using the total pool of capital in your account. Obviously, the amount of capital varies from member to member based on their level of contribution and return on investment of those contributions. An MPPP depends upon your employees to ensur e adequate levels of retirement income for all the members including the employers.HOW ENTREPRENEURS CAN PLAN FOR RETIREMENTThere is nothing wrong in saying that most entrepreneurs lose sight of their retirement goals because they have so many duties to perform. However, there are many things you can do to make your retirement smooth and hassle-free as explained below.Save Money for RetirementYou must start saving a substantial amount of money for your retirement right now because saving for retirement is not a sprint but a marathon. There are many businessmen who invest all their resources, energy and money back into their business and cut a sorry figure when they retire. You should not repeat this mistake as it is vital to start saving as soon as possible.Choose a Retirement PlanOne of the easiest methods of saving money for retirement is to invest in a retirement plan. There are plenty of retirement plans for entrepreneurs, and you can choose one depending upon your particular re quirements, obligations, and investment limits. Investing in a retirement plan of your choice is a decision will not regret.Groom a Worthy SuccessorIt is never a wise idea to postpone the creation of a succession plan. Just like the retirement plan, you should start formulating a succession plan as early as possible even if your retirement is decades away. Grooming a worthy successor, whether it is your son, daughter or anyone else, means you and your business will always remain in good hands.Formulate a Realistic Retirement StrategyYou should have a good idea about how many more years you want to work or when you are going to retire. You should not put off your retirement plan because retirement often comes earlier than you expect. Put all your requirements and ideas in black and white, as it will make things smoother for you. Do all things legally to make sure that you don’t jeopardize your retirement.Prepare a Good Tax StrategyThere are many things you need to beware of when pl anning for retirement and the most important of them is the tax implications. For instance, you are eligible for a capital gains exemption (up to $70,000) if you are selling your business. It is always better to work with a trusted legal professional to better understand tax requirements and how to meet them.Identify Sources of Your Retirement IncomeIt is foolish to think that you will fund your retirement simply by selling your business. The value of a business can depreciate over time or you may even decide to pass on the business to your heir. What you will do if anything like this happens? Similarly, money received from social security is never enough to live a post-retirement dream life. Therefore, it is important for you to identify all sources of income that can fund your retirement and make it pleasant rather than a nightmare.Your business is just like your child, and it is always difficult to bid farewell to someone you love so dearly. It is a herculean task to set up a suc cessful business, and it is even more difficult to sell it or pass it on to someone else. However, you have to go through this ordeal one day, and you can make the transition as smooth as possible with some careful retirement planning.

Pride And Revenge In The Cask Of Amontillado - Free Essay Example

The The Cask of Amontillado is a Gothic fiction by Edgar Allan Poe who develops the theme of pride and revenge to show the motive for Montresor actions and to foreshadow what is to happen in the story. The Cask of Amontillado is told in past tense about a chilling murder Montresor committed 50 years ago. The narrator says the reason for his cruel intentions, was because Fortunato had wronged him for some unknown reason. All we know is that Montresor wants revenge, and he thinks his actions are right and just. As you continue reading, you see that the narrator has gruesome detail on he plans to kill Montresor and how revenge and obsession can dominate a personrs thoughts. Poes dark style is one of his key trademarks in his writings. The Cask of Amontillado is no different. In the story we see how Montresor obsessions continues thru out the story. Montresor family quote Nemo me impune lacessit translates to No one insults me without impunity This quote is a leading factor to making Montresor obsessed with killing Fortunato who offended him for some reason we are never told. The story begins with . The supreme madness of the carnival season. This quote implies that there is going to madness, irrationals choices are going to be made during that day. Then as the story, the characters get to damp catacombs. The catacombs imply that death will be happening and gives us an image of a resting place for a murder. Montresorrs obsession with killing is also seen within the dialogue of the characters. I shall not die of a cough says Fortunato as he walks down to the catacombs. Revenge has also been seen with the irony in the story. Poe uses dramatic and very irony as a way to add darkness to The Cask of Amontillado. An example of dramatic irony is when Fortunato is dressed as a jester and intoxicated when Montresor approaches him at the carnival. We see Montresor be almost exited by Fortunato drunk state. Part of the irony is that Fortunato name means Good Fortune. As we learn thru the story, we know Montresor is planning revenge on Fortunato. The irony being that Fortunato will not have good fortune in the story. This irony become apparent after you read the story, because Fortunato fortune is anything but good. An example of verbal irony is how Fortunato uses the word Ignoramus to tell of a person. Ignoramus means a stupid and ignorant person. Fortunato is the ignoramus one thou, because he is so ignorant to everything happening around him. Fortunato had many chances to escape death, but never takes the chance. He is to intoxicate to understand the situation. Another example of verbal irony is when Montresor and Fortunato are walking down to the catacombs and Fortunato starts to cough. Montresor keeps asking Fortunato if he would like to turn around. Fortunato replies I shall not die of a cough (Poe 63). The irony is that Fortunato wont die of a cough. He is walking to his death in the catacombs, were Montresor will kill him.

A Rational Look at the Abortion Controversy Essay

A Rational Look at the Abortion Controversy One of the most hotly contested issues inside and outside of biomedical ethics today is abortion. The discussion received a new impetus at the release of the controversial abortion drug RU-486, a pill to increase access to abortions and let women get them privately from their own doctor instead of facing shouting protesters at clinics.2 As is the case with all controversial issues, there are very passionate people on both sides of the fence. Unfortunately, a heated discussion on abortion can easily and quickly turn into a battle of rhetoric rather than a dialectic of reason. But the guiding light in such a discussion must always be reason, not rhetoric or other fallacies, for only reason†¦show more content†¦Abortion is the unnatural termination of a pregnancy by killing (at least) one human fetus. This definition is not contested, and I think it seems clear that it is correct. Science confirms that life begins at conception,3 and that this life is human is a-scientific as w ell as logical-necessity, because it is the product of two humans, and humans can only produce humans. Ergo, the fetus involved is human. Secondly, the fetus is, at least scientifically speaking, a singular and individual organism, as evidenced by his own unique genetic make-up, which he shares with no other human being on earth (unless he have an identical twin). There is thus an essential difference between a human fetus and, say, a tumor or similar parasite. Finally, that the fetus is alive is confirmed through empirical observation, and hence forcing that life to come to an end involves at least some sort of killing. Therefore, the unavoidable conclusion is that abortion deliberately and forcibly puts to death a human being. Again, this definition is uncontested and thus I shall not dwell on it any further. Rather, I shall now turn to the moral implications necessarily connected with abortion. The question that arises is as to whether or not abortion is morally justifiable. It cannot be wrong by definition, since sometimes there is moral justification for forcibly putting to death another human being, in such cases as self-defense, just war, or capitalShow MoreRelatedA Opinion On Abortion And Abortion897 Words   |  4 PagesEveryone has a different opinion on abortion. Analysis Of Blue Poles - 1498 Words

Russian painter and pioneer of abstract modern art, Kandinsky’s art and ideas impacted and inspired many generations of artists, from his students at Bauhaus, to the Abstract Expressionists post World War 2. Kandinsky contested the boundaries of conventional art making practice through his rare artistic style that departs from the strict conventions of realism and naturalism formed by the Academie, and seeks to convey inner spiritual experience by challenging intentions and emotive capacities. He sought to convey a universal, visual and spiritual language of abstract forms and colours, along with interpreting his synesthetic experience of music, to create artworks that transcended cultural and physical boundaries. Abstract and Modernist†¦show more content†¦Performed on canvas laid flat on the floor, Pollock makes no physical contact with the canvas whilst painting. The canvas seems to convey a telling of Pollock’s vigorous working methods and turbulent life to the audience, as the work consists of glass shards and footprints embedded into the canvas. Pollock’s boundary breaking manipulation of surface ultimately encourages artists to imitate his new and non-traditional methodologies within art making. Modernist critic, Clement Greenberg coined the term of Abstract Expressionism, and was largely responsible for the growing reputation of Pollock within the art world. Greenberg assisted in determining the reaction to Blue Poles by the audience. In The Nation, 20/1/1945, Greenberg supports Pollock through advocating his artwork in a public expanse, â€Å"American painting is much in need of all three qualities (that is, ‘boldness, breadth, and the monumental’), and it is significant that Pollock, who manifests all three, has already begun to exert an influence, though he has been before the public hardly more than a year.† Greenberg upholds Pollock’s name with high importance, displaying his significance to the Abstract Expressionist movement. Fashion Blogging is Big Business - 1657 Words

Fashion bloggers can earn to hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. And the bulk of the money isnt necessarily coming from brands paying for ads on their sites; it comes from brands paying the bloggers to endorse their products in various ways. (The Womens Wear Daily, fashion industry trade paper) A clothing label might hire a fashion blogger to style a runway show and tweet and blog about the project; or to serve as a model in their ad campaigns and post the images on their blog; or to simply endorse a product the way a celebrity would, by tweeting about it or posting about it on their site. For such endorsements, brands might pay bloggers different amounts of money. Ands Boniface was born in Manila in 1863, the son of a government official. When both his parents died in the sasss, he left school to support his five brothers and sisters. By the mid-1 8805, he had become a fervent Filipino nationalist. When Joss Racial established the Alga Filipino in 1892, Boniface was one of its first members. After the Spanish arrested Racial in July 1892, Boniface decided that the Philippines would only achieve independence through revolution. On July 7, he founded the Justinian, a secret society open to both peasants and the middle class that employed Masonic rituals to impart an air of sacred mystery. It insinuated itself into the community by setting up mutual aid societies and education for the poor. By 1896, the Justinian had over 30,000 members and functioned at the national, provincial, and municipal levels.Following the execution of Racial in 1896, Boniface proclaimed Filipino independence on August 23, 1896. This time, the Spaniards moved against him, forcing his flight to the Marking mountains, while other forces headed y Emilio Continual were more successful and won control over some towns. When Boniface tried to rein him in, Continual ordered him arrested and charged with treason and sedition. He was tried and convicted by his enemies and executed on May 10, 1897. Today he is regarded as a national hero of the Philippines.Emilio Action Name: Emilio Action (December 15, 1875 to April 16, 1899) Born: December 15, 1875 Father: Marino Action Mother: Josef Dijon Better Known: Brain of the Justinian Emilio was born in Torso, Manila on December 15, 1875. When his father, Marino Action died, his mother Josef Dijon, a midwife, had to work harder o support his studies. Later, he was forced to live with his uncle, Don Jose Dijon, who enrolled him at the San Juan De Lateran College. Then he transferred to the University of Santos Tomato to take up Law. His studies however, were interrupted when he joined the Justinian at the start of the Philippine Revolution in 1896. His sad experiences with his Spanish classmates, his sensitivity to the flight of his people, and his readings about the Spanish injustices led him to do so against the wishes of his mother and his uncle. He was only 19 years old, but became one of the ablest leaders of the Justinian. To Boniface, he was an adviser, a secretary, and a fiscal. He edited the Nag Callahan, the newspaper of the Justinian which informed the people of the aims and activities of the association. He wrote the Sartorial, the primer of the Justinian which contained its rules and regulations. He supervised the manufacture of gunpowder. Thus, he was called the Brain of the Justinian. Action was also a poet. His greatest poem was A La Patria, inspired by Racals Ultimo Adios. It was signed Dimes-law, Casinos pen name. In one of the battles in Majesty, Laguna, Emilio Action was wounded artistically; he died on April 16, 1899 at the age of 24. Application Mamboing Martian (July 22, 1864 -? May 13, 1903) Application Mamboing was a Filipino political philosopher and architect of the Philippine revolution. He formulated the principles of a democratic popular government, endowing the historical struggles of the Filipino people with a coherent ideological orientation. Application Mamboing was born in Tale, Tanana, Battings, on July 22, 1864. His parents belonged to the impoverished peasantry. He studied at the College De San Juan De Lateran in 1881 and at the University of Santos Thomas, here he received the law degree in 1894. During this time he earned his living by teaching Latin and then serving as copyist in the Court of First Instance in Manila. In 1 896 Mamboing contracted an illness, probably infantile paralysis, that deprived him of the use of his legs. When the Justinian revolt broke out late that year, the Spanish authorities arrested him. Unknown to many, Mamboing was already a member of Joss Racals reformist association, the Alga Filipino. And though as a pacifist reformist, he was at first skeptical of Andrea Benefactions armed uprising, Mamboing later became convinced of the peoples almost fanatical desire for emancipation. Subsequently, he turned out subversive manifestos appealing to all Filipinos to unite against Spain. In May 1 898 Emilio Continual summoned Mamboing to act as his adviser. Mamboing formulated the famous decree of June 1 8, which reorganized the local government under Filipino control. His policy throughout the struggle can be epitomized by a statement in that decree: The first duty of the government is to interpret the popular will faithfully. Mamboing was also instrumental in supervising the proper administration of justice, the election of delegates to he revolutionary congress, and the establishment of the mechanism of the revolutionary government itself. When the revolutionary congress was convoked in Bargains, Mallows, Vulcan, on Septet. 15, 1898, Mamboing found himself opposed to the plans of the wealthy bourgeoisie to draft a constitution. He believed that, given the emergency conditions of war, the function of the congress was simply to advise the president and not to draft a constitution. Defeated by the majority, Mamboing then submitted his own constitutional plan, based on the Statutes of Universal Masonry. It was rejected in favor of a composite draft submitted by Feline G. Cauldron, which became the basis of the Mallows Constitution of the first Philippine Republic.Ambits conflict with the conspiracy of property owners and the landlord class in the congress led to his eclipse in 1899 as Gondolas trusted adviser the only competent thinker and theoretician in the Continual Cabinet. Mamboing succeeded in exposing the vicious opportunism of the Pattern-Bemoaning clique, who were tying to gain control over, and to profit from, the financial transactions of the revolutionary government. When the Continual camp fled from the advancing American forces, Mamboing was captured on DCE. 0, 1899. Still refusing to swear an oath of allegiance to the U.S. Government and continuing to support the insurgents in their ideological struggle, he was deported to Guam in 1901. He died on May 13, 1903. Ambits chief work, La Revolution Filipino, a reasoned analysis and cogent argument concerning the ideological implications of the revolution against Spain and the resistance to the American invaders, reveals the progressive and democratic impulse behind his thinking. He always tried to mediate between the peoples will and the decisions of their leaders. He was a selfless and dedicated patriot.

6:00AM. Time to rise and shine. Well, at the very least, time to rise. I start off the day with my monotonous morning routine of eating breakfast, brushing my teeth, getting dressed, and running out the door. After battling the morning traffic I reach my destination, Immaculate Heart Academy. I pull into the lot and head towards the school. As I’m reaching for the door to the school one of my friends stops me. â€Å"Sara!† she calls out desperately, laptop in hand, â€Å"My laptop keeps going black! Help me!† Looks like I will be playing the role of tech support today. I take her laptop and get working. First I check its â€Å"vital signs.† Laptop boots as normal, no unusual processes running. . . I shift with the laptop in my lap when â€Å"ping†, something falls to the floor. I shift to find what has fallen, but as soon as I move the screen goes black! I search for the object that fell and find a small screw. I sit through my classes and rush out the door when that long awaited end-of-the-day bell rings. I rush to beat the buses out of the parking lot and then cruise down the highway until I get home. Time for homework. I get it over quickly so that I can enjoy the rest of my night. Once I finish, I plop down on the couch with my laptop for some â€Å"me† time. I start off by checking my social networks. As usual, nothing interesting going on there. Time to work on my latest project: turning an old laptop into a digital photo frame. I start working on the hardware aspect of the project. Who knew that one of the hardest part would be finding a frame thick enough to hold the comp uter components? After working on my project for a bit it’s time for bed. I go through the inverse of my monotonous morning routine and get into bed. A good end to a great day. This is just a typical day in my life as a half-geek. My life is a balance of technology and friends. By making time for both, I get the unique opportunity of learning how to help others with their computer problems and giving them the tools they need to fix their computers in the future. Walking my friends through simple solutions as well as complex ones helps me improve both my patience and my computer skills. I love helping my friends out and seeing them improve over time. I am a typical teenager in many aspects of my life, but I am a geek as well, and I love it that way.
